class=\"hps\">Sergio<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Haro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">un Starbucks ubicado cerca de la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">frontera entre<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">M\u00e9xico y Estados Unidos,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en la ciudad de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Mexicali<\/span>, Baja <span class=\"hps\">California.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">estaba buscando un<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">periodista<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">que le ayudara a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">contar una historia<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">m\u00e1s completa<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sobre la regi\u00f3n, y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">encontr\u00f3<\/span> a <span class=\"hps\">Haro,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">un<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">veterano reportero<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">del<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">semanario<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Zeta,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">oriundo de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Mexicali.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps atn\">\"<\/span>Se supon\u00eda que \u00edbamos <span class=\"hps\">a tener una<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">reuni\u00f3n corta<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y se convirti\u00f3 en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">una<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">conversaci\u00f3n de tres horas<\/span>\", dijo <span de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">represi\u00f3n del gobierno<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">del <\/span><a class=\"hps\">regionales peque\u00f1os est\u00e1n a la vanguardia<\/span><span class=\"hps\"> de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">violencia<\/span> <span Knight<\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"hps\">habl\u00f3 con<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sobre la direcci\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de la class=\"hps\">camioneta<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">desde su casa en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Mexicali<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">hasta Tijuana,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">donde<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"hps\">Zeta<\/span><span lang=\"es\" tabindex=\"-1\"> <span class=\"hps\">tiene su sede<\/span>, con la <span class=\"hps\">mirada fija en el horizonte<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">su cabellera<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">reflejada en el espejo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">retrovisor del veh\u00edculo.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Conduciendo por<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">el desierto de Sonora<\/span>, el periodista <span class=\"hps\">reflexiona sobre<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">los peligros de informar <\/span><span class=\"hps\">en el M\u00e9xico de hoy<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">\"Muchos no<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">est\u00e1n dispuestos a asumir<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">esos riesgos\"<\/span>, dice. <span class=\"hps\">A pesar de los<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">peligros<\/span>, Haro <span class=\"hps\">dice que encontr\u00f3\u00a0en el periodismo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en 1980 por<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Jes\u00fas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Blancornelas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y H\u00e9ctor<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">F\u00e9lix<\/span> <span drogas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y corrupci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">Ruiz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dijo que \u00e9l pensaba<\/span> que la <span class=\"hps atn\">\"<\/span>visi\u00f3n caleidosc\u00f3pica\" que Haro tiene <span class=\"hps\">de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la regi\u00f3n desde<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sus tiempos de reportero<\/span><span class=\"hps\">,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">su<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">integridad<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">como periodista<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y su sentido en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">un botadero ubicado a <\/span><span class=\"hps\">las afueras de Tijuana,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">hasta reportes sobre un albergue<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">juvenil para ni\u00f1os<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">deportados.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ambos decidieron<\/span> qu\u00e9<span class=\"hps\"> actividades<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ser\u00edan convenientes para el documental<\/span><span class=\"hps\">.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\"V\u00ed a Sergio <\/span><span class=\"hps\">como un colaborador<\/span>\", dijo <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">al Centro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Knight.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Pero la c\u00e1mara<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">tambi\u00e9n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">se adentra en <\/span><span class=\"hps\">la cocina<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de Haro<\/span>, mientras \u00e9l y <span class=\"hps\">su esposa<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">preparan juntos la cena<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y se sientan a disfrutar<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de ella.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">presenta un<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cuadro m\u00e1s completo de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Haro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">como esposo y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">padre<\/span>, class=\"hps\">Ver<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a la familia<\/span> de <span class=\"hps\">Haro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en la pel\u00edcula<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ilustra<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">qu\u00e9 tanto<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">est\u00e1 en juego<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">para<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">los periodistas mexicanos<\/span><span class=\"hps\">.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Una de las situaciones que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">estaba m\u00e1s interesado<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en captura<\/span>r <span class=\"hps\">era el proceso<\/span> por el cual <span class=\"hps\">pasa<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">un periodista<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">al momento de decidir<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">si<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">publica o no<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">un art\u00edculo<\/span> sensible<span class=\"hps\">.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 lo har\u00eda el<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">reportero<\/span><span class=\"hps\"> y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">qu\u00e9 precio<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">podr\u00eda<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">pagar<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">por ello?<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">\"Era<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">como sostener<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">una granada que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a\u00fan tiene el<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">seguro<\/span> puesto<span class=\"hps\">\",<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dice<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Haro<\/span>, al reflexionar sobre <span class=\"hps\">el<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">debate acerca de <\/span><span class=\"hps\">publicar o no<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">una historia que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">vincula a muchas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">figuras poderosas<\/span><span class=\"hps\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">Navarro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dice en el documental<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Zeta<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ha perdido<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">muchos periodistas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">desde su creaci\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">hace 33 a\u00f1os.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Despu\u00e9s de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">un intento de asesinato<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">contra<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Blancornelas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en 1997<\/span>, el co-fundador <span class=\"hps\">H\u00e9ctor F\u00e9lix<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Miranda<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y el editor<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Francisco<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ort\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">fueron asesinados<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en 1998 y 2004,<\/span> respectivamente. <span class=\"hps\">\"Hemos<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sido capaces de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">publicar lo que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">queremos\",<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dice Navarro<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">\"Pero hemos<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sufrido las<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">consecuencias\".<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">Las decisiones que toman tienen consecuencias directas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cuando<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Haro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">decide<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">arremeter contra<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">liberaci\u00f3n anticipada del<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">presunto asesino<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de su amigo y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">co<\/span>-fundador del peri\u00f3dico <span class=\"hps\">Siete<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">D\u00edas<\/span>, Benjam\u00edn <span class=\"hps\">Flores.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Haro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">recibi\u00f3 amenazas de muerte<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">despu\u00e9s de la publicaci\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">del art\u00edculo.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Se le asign\u00f3<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">protecci\u00f3n policial<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y<\/span><span class=\"hps\"> su<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">esposa e hijo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">fueron enviados a un lugar seguro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">\"Eso te hace<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">enojar,<\/span>\" dice la esposa <span class=\"hps\">de Haro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en el documental<\/span><span class=\"atn\">: \"<\/span>\u00bfNo puedes ni <span class=\"hps\">siquiera<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">hablar?.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"es\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"hps\">En el documental<\/span>, Haro <span class=\"hps\">dice que<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/knightcenter.utexas.edu\/es\/blog\/00-12433-periodistas-cuentan-los-riesgos-que-enfrentan-en-la-cobertura-del-crimen-organizado-en\"><span class=\"hps\">se niega a usar<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">un chaleco<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">antibalas<\/span><\/a> <span class=\"hps\">o aceptar<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">protecci\u00f3n policial<\/span>, asegurando que <span class=\"hps\">ello inhibe el acceso<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y confianza<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">entre \u00e9l y sus<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">fuentes.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">En el mismo sentido<\/span>, el equipo <span class=\"hps\">de Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ten\u00eda que asegurarse de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">que su<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">presencia no<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">afectara el trabajo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de Haro<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">Un<\/span><span class=\"hps\"> equipo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">peque\u00f1o <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"es\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"hps\">fue esencial<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">para ello.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">La seguridad era<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">una preocupaci\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">durante el rodaje.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Mientras que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dijo que lo peor<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de la violencia en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Tijuana<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ya hab\u00eda pasado<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cuando se empez\u00f3 <\/span><span class=\"hps\">a rodar el film<\/span>, \u00e9l se\u00f1al\u00f3 que <span class=\"hps\">Zeta<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">tiene muchos enemigos<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y que a algunos funcionarios<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">p\u00fablicos en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Baja<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">California<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">no les gustaba la rigurosidad<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de la publicaci\u00f3n.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">las preocupaciones por la<\/span><span class=\"hps\"> intromisi\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de funcionarios p\u00fablicos <\/span><span class=\"hps\">en la producci\u00f3n de<\/span>l film, <span class=\"hps\">el<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">verdadero peligro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">era <\/span><span class=\"hps\">exponer los rostros<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y familiares de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">los reporteros de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Zeta<\/span> class=\"hps\">dijo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Durante una reuni\u00f3n con<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Navarro<\/span>, Haro <span class=\"hps\">y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">otros miembros de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Zeta<\/span>, Ru\u00edz <span class=\"hps\">expuso su<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">deseo de tener el<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">control de la edici\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">final del documental al tiempo que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cooperar\u00eda con<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">el personal de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Zeta<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">para revisar<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cualquier material que pudiera<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">poner en peligro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la vida<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de alguien.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz dijo que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">todos era<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">conscientes de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">los problemas de seguridad<\/span>, pero en general <span class=\"hps\">\u00e9l sinti\u00f3<\/span> que <span class=\"hps\">el personal de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Zeta recibi\u00f3 con buenos ojos <\/span><span class=\"hps\">la creciente atenci\u00f3n<\/span> sobre<span class=\"hps\"> su trabajo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">Una estrategia<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">utilizada por<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">fue el evitar discutir<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">investigaciones<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en proceso.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Las<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">historias que se cuentan<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en la pel\u00edcula<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">eran bien conocidas<\/span> y no tienen porque <span class=\"hps\">provocar<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">una respuesta violenta por parte de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">los carteles de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la droga<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">u otras organizaciones criminales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"es\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"hps\">Los riesgos<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y peligros a los que se refiere<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Haro<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en la pel\u00edcula<\/span><span class=\"atn\">, \"<\/span>te hacen pensar <span class=\"hps\">sobre este trabajo y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">su<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">nivel de compromiso.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Te preguntas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00bfcu\u00e1l es la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">l\u00ednea divisoria<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">entre quedarse<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">o<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">huir?<\/span>\"<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">Cuando empezaron<\/span> a proyectar <span class=\"hps\">el documental en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">M\u00e9xico<\/span>, Ru\u00edz <span class=\"hps\">dijo que estaba<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">bastante<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">nervioso sobre<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">su acogida en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Tijuana,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">donde el<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">equipo rod\u00f3<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">parte del mismo. <\/span><span class=\"hps\">Despu\u00e9s de la proyecci\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en la ciudad,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">una mujer se acerc\u00f3<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y le dijo a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz que ella<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">viv\u00eda<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a pocas cuadras<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de la intersecci\u00f3n<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">donde hombres armados<\/span> intentaron asesinar a <span class=\"hps\">Blancorenals, el<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">fundador de Zeta,<\/span><span lang=\"es\" tabindex=\"-1\"> <span class=\"hps\">en 1997.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ella<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">estaba lavando los platos<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cuando escuch\u00f3<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">los disparos<\/span>, manifest\u00f3. <span class=\"hps\">La mujer<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">admiti\u00f3 que <\/span><span class=\"hps\">no dio aviso a la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">polic\u00eda<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y continu\u00f3 con lo que estaba haciendo<\/span><span class=\"hps\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">\"Ella dijo que<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">no sab\u00eda lo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">que hab\u00eda ocurrido ese d\u00eda<\/span> hasta que vio <span class=\"hps atn\">'<\/span>Reportero'\", dijo <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">La pel\u00edcula<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">fue bien recibida en<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">M\u00e9xico<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">y en el extranjero<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">\"En lo que se refiere a <\/span><span class=\"hps\">mantener vigente el tema de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">los ataques<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">contra la prensa<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en M\u00e9xico y<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la falta total de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">acciones judiciales por <\/span><span class=\"hps\">los cr\u00edmenes contra<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">periodistas<\/span>, siento que <span class=\"hps\">la pel\u00edcula ha<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sido bastante<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">exitosa\", dijo<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ru\u00edz.
