{"id":60206,"date":"2011-07-11T20:00:39","date_gmt":"2011-07-12T01:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamjournalismreview.org\/?p=60206"},"modified":"2022-07-03T20:02:12","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T01:02:12","slug":"renuncia-editor-de-diario-demandado-por-presidente-de-ecuador","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamjournalismreview.org\/es\/articles\/renuncia-editor-de-diario-demandado-por-presidente-de-ecuador\/","title":{"rendered":"Renuncia editor de diario demandado por presidente de Ecuador"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>En un intento por salvar al peri\u00f3dico de la millonaria demanda que enfrenta de parte del presidente de Ecuador, Rafael Correa, a causa de una columna editorial que escribi\u00f3,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/noticias.terra.com.pe\/internacional\/latinoamerica\/renuncia-periodista-demandado-por-presidente-ecuatoriano,eea2223b4a511310VgnVCM4000009bf154d0RCRD.html\">Emilio Palacio anunci\u00f3 su renuncia al cargo de editor de opini\u00f3n de El Universo<\/a>, report\u00f3 Terra.<\/p>\n<p>Palacio present\u00f3 su renuncia el jueves 7 de julio en una carta que fue dada a conocer reci\u00e9n el domingo 10 de julio a la prensa, inform\u00f3 la agencia AFP. \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latribuna.hn\/2011\/07\/10\/periodista-ecuatoriano-demandado-por-presidente-correa-renuncia-a-su-cargo\">Hago llegar mi renuncia irrevocable<\/a>\u00a0a los directivos de diario\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eluniverso.com\/\">El Universo<\/a>, con el que he colaborado con tanto orgullo\u201d, escribi\u00f3 Palacio en la misiva.<\/p>\n<p>En a carta, el editor se adjudic\u00f3 completa responsabilidad por\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eluniverso.com\/2011\/02\/06\/1\/1363\/mentiras.html\">la editorial que caus\u00f3 la ira de Correa<\/a>\u00a0y fue el motivo de la\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/knightcenter.utexas.edu\/es\/blog\/correa-pide-80-millones-de-dolares-de-indemnizacion-diario-de-ecuador-y-3-anos-de-carcel-para-s\">querella por 80 millones de d\u00f3lares<\/a>\u00a0que present\u00f3 el mandatario en marzo por supuestas injurias en contra de Palacio y los directivos del medio.<\/p>\n<p>\"<a href=\"http:\/\/america.infobae.com\/notas\/28916-Renuncio-el-jefe-de-opinion-de-El-Universo-demandado-por-Correa--\">Espero que esta renuncia d\u00e9 lugar a que el presidente retire su querella contra El Universo<\/a>\u00a0y contra los se\u00f1ores Carlos, C\u00e9sar y Nicol\u00e1s P\u00e9rez\u201d, los m\u00e1ximos directivos del peri\u00f3dico, sostuvo Palacio, seg\u00fan publica Infobae.<\/p>\n<p>A fines de junio, el secretario de Comunicaci\u00f3n de la Presidencia, Fernando Alvarado, afirm\u00f3 que la demanda podr\u00eda ser retirada si los periodistas y directivos de El Universo se retractaban de la editorial \"NO a las mentiras\", que en febrero acus\u00f3 al gobernante de \u201chaber ordenado fuego a discreci\u00f3n\u201d contra un hospital durante una rebeli\u00f3n policial en septiembre de 2010. \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cre.com.ec\/Desktop.aspx?Id=143&amp;e=153925\">Para que esa demanda quede anulada, basta que los periodistas y directivos reconozcan que faltaron a la verdad en el art\u00edculo<\/a>\", dijo Alvarado.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.elcomercio.com\/politica\/renuncia-Emilio-Palacio-Universo-querella_0_514748613.html\">el abogado de Correa afirm\u00f3 que la renuncia de Palacio no frenar\u00e1 la querella<\/a>. \u201cNo tenemos una versi\u00f3n oficial de la supuesta renuncia, pero lo que s\u00ed tiene que estar claro, es que no afecta en nada al proceso\u201d, asegur\u00f3 Alembert Vera, de la defensa del mandatario, citado por El Comercio.<\/p>\n<p>Rafael Correa mantiene una tensa relaci\u00f3n con los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n, a los que suele tildar de prensa \"corrupta\". Adem\u00e1s de la querella contra El Universo, el mandatario interpuso a fines de febrero\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/knightcenter.utexas.edu\/es\/blog\/presidente-de-ecuador-demanda-dos-periodistas-por-dano-moral\">una demanda por 10 millones de d\u00f3lares<\/a>\u00a0en contra de los periodistas que escribieron un libro sobre presunta corrupci\u00f3n en los contratos del gobierno.
