Son m\u00e1s de 400 periodistas los que han recibido ayuda financiera para asistir a escuelas de postgrado de parte del Fondo de Becas de la Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa (SIP) desde 1954.\"Grad_hat-1\"<\/p>\n

Ese programa acaba de anunciar el periodo de solicitud<\/a> para periodistas j\u00f3venes y reci\u00e9n graduados de universidad en el \u00e1rea de periodismo. Las solicitudes estar\u00e1n abiertas entre el 15 de noviembre de 2018 y el 31 de enero de 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSiempre tuvo presente la calidad y especializaci\u00f3n de los periodistas y que estos puedan desarrollar sus dotes en diferentes departamentos de los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n, no solo en puestos de reporteros o para cubrir noticias, sino tambi\u00e9n que puedan ocupar con mayor experiencia y conocimiento otros puestos como editores, directores, gerentes administrativos y otras funciones\u201d, dijo Ricardo Trotti director ejecutivo de la SIP. \u201cLa SIP siempre apost\u00f3 que estas becas permitieran formar a l\u00edderes dentro de la industria period\u00edstica\u201d.<\/p>\n

Para postularse, los candidatos deben tener entre 21 y 35 a\u00f1os de edad y estudiar en universidades acreditadas del continente americano. Las becas incluyen un estipendio de US\u00a0 $20.000 y gastos de viaje de ida y vuelta.<\/p>\n

Un comit\u00e9 de becas revisar\u00e1 las solicitudes en marzo y los ganadores se anunciar\u00e1n en mayo, seg\u00fan la SIP.<\/p>\n

Ganadores recientes de estas becas son periodistas de Per\u00fa y Colombia que estudian en la Universidad de Columbia en la ciudad de Nueva York y en el Centennial College en Toronto, Canad\u00e1, respectivamente.<\/p>\n

La SIP, que tiene su sede en Miami, Florida, es un grupo de defensa de la prensa que cuenta con m\u00e1s de 1.300 publicaciones como miembros. Defiende y promueve las libertades de expresi\u00f3n y de prensa en las Am\u00e9ricas.<\/p>\n

\u201cUno de los objetivos de la SIP dentro de su misi\u00f3n de defender y promover la libertad de prensa, tiene que ver con la profesionalizaci\u00f3n de los periodistas y la b\u00fasqueda constante de la calidad period\u00edstica\u201d, dijo Trotti. \u201cLa libertad de prensa se defiende desde varios \u00e1ngulos, entre ellos la rigurosidad, la precisi\u00f3n, la investigaci\u00f3n, la \u00e9tica, etc\u2026 todos valores que se desprenden de la buena formaci\u00f3n profesional de los periodistas, de ah\u00ed el aporte al periodismo a trav\u00e9s de ofrecer mecanismos para la preparaci\u00f3n y la formaci\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Es una periodista con inter\u00e9s en la libertad de prensa, la democratizaci\u00f3n y el periodismo investigativo en Am\u00e9rica Latina y est\u00e1 dedicada a crear mayor consciencia sobre la importancia de los medios noticiosos independientes para la salud de las democracias. El objetivo de su trabajo period\u00edstico es ayudar las personas para que tomen decisiones informadas sobre sus vidas y sus sociedades, y busca que otros periodistas tengan la posibilidad de hacer lo mismo. Teresa tiene una licenciatura en Periodismo y Artes liberales (Plan II Honors), y una maestr\u00eda en Estudios Latinoamericanos, todos de la Universidad de Texas en Austin. Empez\u00f3 su carrera en periodismo en The Beaumont Enterprise al sureste de Texas, en donde recientemente trabaj\u00f3 como reportera de noticias de \u00faltima hora.
