Durango, 42, a member of the Casup communication collective, was recognized in the rural district of Batata for his work training young people in broadcasting and community communication.

According to Indepaz, Durango’s body was found on Saturday along the road connecting the La Sierpe and Murmullo areas, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Present in Tierralta are the Clan del Golfo—the country's largest criminal gang, which calls itself the Gaitanist Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (EGC)—as well as Los Caparros and other local criminal organizations.”
