"In Friday's July 31 edition, [Dominican] newspaper El Nacional informed readers that it would be its last print edition. As the country's last remaining afternoon newspaper, sold for just 20 Dominican pesos [35 U.S. cents], it brought nearly 60 years of print tradition to a close, as it transitions to an exclusively digital presentation in order to remain in operation.
'For six decades, paper was our greatest ally in telling the truth. Today, the demands of our time require that same truth to travel at the speed of a click, without the constraints of printing presses or the geographic limits of physical distribution,' its final print editorial reads."
