Doctor charged in Maradona case assaults journalist at trial for former soccer player's death

"Leopoldo Luque is one of the main figures in the trial for Diego Maradona's death. The neurosurgeon is one of the nine defendants in the investigation for homicidio con dolo eventual (homicide by negligence) against those possibly responsible for the former soccer player's death. The doctor has attracted attention in San Isidro [Argentina]. His improved appearance is one of the reasons. The other is his attitude. On one occasion, in fact, he attacked a journalist who was filming him.

The doctor was being filmed by an AFP reporter. When he realized the situation, he approached and forced him to stop recording. 'Are you filming me? Did they authorize you to do that?' Luque asked. 'I'm just taking a photo,' the professional replied. 'Where are you from?' Luque retorted, to which the journalist replied: 'From Agence France-Presse.' Immediately afterward, the doctor told him he should ask his permission and launched himself at the camera."
