Venezuelan news outlets form network to promote press freedom

"A group of 13 Venezuelan media outlets and organizations announced Friday [Sept. 11] the launch of the Venezuelan Independent Media Network (REMI), a collaborative space to defend freedom of expression in the country.

The initiative […] brings together national, regional and specialized news outlets, as well as digital-native outlets and organizations focused on fact-checking journalism. The network includes Arepita, Cazadores de Fake News, Efecto Cocuyo, El Bus TV, El Impulso, El Pitazo, El Tiempo, Es Noticia Venezuela, Diario La Nación, IPYS Venezuela, TalCual, Runrun.es and ProBox, although they do not rule out adding other media outlets and organizations.

REMI is an initiative that seeks to 'expand and serve as a bridge among media outlets, networks, organizations and initiatives that share the goal of defending freedom of expression and the dream of rebuilding Venezuelan democracy,' said […] César Batiz, director of El Pitazo."
