Mexican journalist reported missing Alejandro Gallegos found dead in Tabasco state

“Journalist and professor Alejandro Gallegos León was found dead on Saturday [Jan. 25] in the [Mexican] state of Tabasco after being reported missing [...]. According to his search record, the last communication with him happened at around 2:25 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.

Gallegos León, 51 years old, was a journalist specializing in education and local political issues. He had a column in the Tabasco HOY newspaper and managed the online citizen complaint page of media outlet La Voz del Pueblo, Noticias sin Censura (News without Censorship). He was also a professor at the Alfa y Omega University in the city of Villahermosa.

Human rights organizations and journalists' associations called on the authorities to investigate the crime, and demanded to consider Gallegos León's journalistic work as a possible line of investigation.”
