Honduran TV crew attacked while covering mayoral event

“A group of supporters of the Libertad y Refundación (Libre) political party attacked journalist María Fernanda Martínez on Sunday afternoon [Feb. 16] while she was covering an event of the mayor [of Tegucigalpa, Honduras]. The journalist said she had already done a live broadcast and had asked the cameraman to take back-up shots, when suddenly she saw that the cameraman was running because a mob wanted to take the camera away from him.

[...] Martínez said that she suffered a deviated septum and other injuries.

'I was just doing my job, covering an event I was sent to, as we have always done, but these people are intolerant,' the journalist said.”
