The journalists requested Daniel Noboa and Luisa Gonzalez to define their position on freedom of the press, freedom of expression and access to public information.
They also said that in view of the difficult situation the country is going through, it is crucial to have a free press. [...] The letter mentions the concern of 'new attempts to silence journalists through the revival of past laws that were used during [former president Rafael] Correa's regime to violate freedom of expression and of the press, such as a failed legislation known as 'Gag Law.'”
