"Hours after revealing that [Argentina’s] State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE, for its initials in Spanish) had approved a National Intelligence Plan opening the door for the collection and analysis of information on journalists, economists and other ‘actors’ seen as potentially undermining public confidence in government officials or ‘manipulating’ public opinion, journalist Hugo Alconada Mon was targeted in a coordinated and systematic campaign of hacking and intimidation.
The attack involved at least ten attempts to take over the journalist’s WhatsApp account, an attempted breach of his profile on the social platform X, a series of insults and threats sent to his phone from four different numbers, and the creation of a pornographic site account using his name.

The President's Office responded with a statement, which was retweeted by President Javier Milei himself, in which it denied that they use the SIDE to persecute opponents, journalists or political adversaries. It rejected what it called ‘the journalistic versions’ about the Intelligence Plan, but did not provide any precision."
