“The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and its Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression condemned the recent attack on Gustavo Chica, a journalist at the Estéreo Guaviare radio station, and called for a swift investigation.
The international body reported that two people have been arrested in connection with the incident. They face charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.
In response to the attack, the IACHR urged the Colombian government to implement effective protective measures for Chica, his family, and his colleagues at Estéreo Guaviare. The commission also called on authorities to continue pursuing investigations aimed at identifying and prosecuting all those responsible.”
