"The escalation of attacks against the team of [Cuban digital media outlet] elTOQUE continues. In a new attempt to silence us, the unofficial State Security website, Razones de Cuba, has published an alleged list of our media outlet's ‘executives’ who are allegedly being investigated by that agency. These individuals, they say, ‘(...) may be extradited if they travel to a third country, claimed by law enforcement agencies, or, in the event of a change of government in their country of residence, also face extradition. If they travel to Cuba, they may go straight to prison.’
The threats confirm the Cuban regime's intention to internationalize its repression, a strategy it has employed in the past [...]. Although international law prohibits collaboration in cases of political persecution, the Cuban regime has allied governments around the world that could help it in the detention and repression of those whom Havana considers enemies.
The list of people they have decided to expose includes colleagues who have not worked with us for months or even years. [...] Several are mistakenly located in countries they have never visited or in educational institutions where they have never studied. [...] However, even if their data is inaccurate, this act is no less dangerous and grotesque. They are threatening extraterritorial actions and effectively exiling professionals who have only done their jobs, several of whom have no connection to elTOQUE. This action deserves our complete condemnation […]”.
