Journalists in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, report being threatened and intimidated by National Guard

“According to interviews with the journalists…they were harassed by members of the National Guard upon arriving at the scene [of an accident in which a guard unit overturned]. The National Guard members demanded a supposed ‘federal license’ from the journalists to carry out their work and threatened to arrest them or confiscate their cell phones and cameras as evidence for the public prosecutor's office. Furthermore, the National Guard members did not allow them to take photographs: they pushed them and tried to take their equipment… In the case of [J.] Guadalupe Arce, he said in his testimony to this organization that he was surrounded and harassed by National Guard members, who demanded his identification with personal information, which they then photographed without his consent.”
