Men sentenced to more than 46 years in prison for murder of Mexican journalist Marco Aurelio Ramírez

"Following the ruling issued this Thursday [Feb. 26] by the Trial Court in Puebla, those responsible for the murder of journalist Marco Aurelio Ramírez in Tehuacán were sentenced to 46 years and five months in prison each.

They are Jesús Armando N. and José Francisco N., who received the sentence after a judicial process that consisted of 27 hearings, during which the family of the communicator demanded justice on a permanent basis.

In this regard, Diana Luisa Ramírez, the journalist's daughter, reported on the ruling and stated that the sentence sets a historic precedent, punishing not only a homicide, but a direct attack against freedom of expression.

[...]

It is worth remembering that the crime occurred on May 23, 2023, in the Agua Blanca subdivision of Tehuacán, where the journalist was attacked with gunfire while driving his truck, which caused his instant death."
