Peruvian judge seeks court order forcing journalists to delete reports

“Journalists Analí Andrade Pareja, of Fuerza Informativa Apurímac, and Edwin Ramírez Delgado, of the Portada.pe website, are facing legal proceedings after Judge Wilmar de la Cruz Gutiérrez filed a constitutional injunction. The judge intends to force the journalists to remove several publications that reported on serious allegations against him for alleged influence peddling and abuse of power.

In statements to the Human Rights Office of the National Association of Journalists of Peru (ANP), Andrade reported that the order admitting the lawsuit was served on February 3, after it was accepted by the First Civil Court of Andahuaylas.

The lawsuit, filed on January 13, 2026, claims a ‘violation of the right to honor and good reputation, as well as to one's own image, and also a violation of the right to the presumption of innocence.’”
