Chilean journalism schools request government guarantee free exercise of journalism and free expression

“In the midst of a new commemoration of World Press Freedom Day, the main journalism schools in the country issued a letter to the Chilean government to express their deep concern regarding the current state of freedom of expression and of the press in our country.

The letter addressed to President Sebastián Piñera emphasizes situations that in recent times have violated the right to free expression and the press, the free exercise of journalism and the right of citizens to access plural information of public interest, such as intimidation, spying on various investigative journalists and/or communication workers and interference in the editorial lines of certain media outlets."
