Dominican Republic online newspaper suffers cyber attack

The Dominican online newspaper Diario Digital RD denounced a cyber attack against its Google and Twitter accounts, Facebook profile, and damage to its subscription database, reported the publication on its website.

Weeks before the attack, the publication's director, José Tejada Gómez, said robbers broke into his home and stole two laptop computers, reported the newspaper Hoy.

In a press release, Tejada questioned the National Police Technology Crimes unit's efficiency investigating and solving cyber crimes. The unit claims to have cleared 90 percent of its cases, reported Diario Libre.
