"Politicians from opposition parties, businessmen and journalists repudiated on Wednesday, Sept. 23, the statements of the mayor of José C. Paz, Mario Ishii, who issued a harsh warning against the media during an act. Along with President Alberto Fernández and Axel Kicillof, with whom he led the inauguration of a faculty, Ishii said: 'Have mercy on the people because one day they will rise up against the media. I have no doubt that this could happen.'
The Association of Argentine Journalistic Entities (ADEPA) condemned Ishii's expressions and pointed out that 'the sad phrase ignores the critical role of journalism in democracy and ignores the value of freedom of expression.'"
