The National Police of Peru presented on Sunday, March 10 ua man who confessed having received money to kill Luis Choy, a photographer with newspaper El Comercio, informed portal Perú 21.
The man, born in Puerto Rico, allegedly confessed during interrogation that he received 20,000 Peruvian soles, or approximately $7,600, to kill the journalist. Authorities haven't revealed who paid the man to carry out the crime, El Comercio said.
The alleged killer, who had reportedly changed his look throw authorities off, fwas captured in a shopping center before he tried to escape to Ecuador, RPP Noticias said.On the day of the crime the man received a down payment of 5,000 Peruvian soles, as well as a picture of Choy and some information on him, RPP added.
Luis Choy was gunned down and killed while he exited his home on Feb. 23, triggering a large controversy on the topic of violence in the country.
