"Two journalists were murdered in Mexico in a week. Freelance photojournalist Margarito Martínez was shot on Monday Jan. 17 in the border city of Tijuana, the same day the murder of another journalist in the state of Veracruz was confirmed.
Martínez, who worked as a police photographer for several national and international media outlets and had registered with the state mechanism for the protection of journalists, was shot outside his home.
