"Representatives of the Coordinadora de Derechos Humanos del Paraguay [Human Rights Coordinator of Paraguay or Codehupy, by its Spanish acronym] and the Sindicato de Periodistas del Paraguay [Paraguayan Journalists Union] presented [this Wednesday, April 26] in Congress a draft bill that seeks the establishment of an institution to ensure the safety of journalists and human rights defenders in our country.
The initiative seeks to prevent attacks and murders of journalists, as well as impunity, and has the support of several organizations such as the Consultorio Jurídico Feminista [Feminist Legal Clinic], the Federación por la Autodeterminación de los Pueblos Indígenas [Federation for the Self-Determination of Indigenous Peoples], Amnesty International, and others."
