"This Thursday [May 9], the Ecuadoran government delivered classified documents to relatives of the journalistic team from newspaper El Comercio that was murdered in 2018. The documents were from deliberations of the Security Council during the time the team was abducted by a dissident group of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC, for its acronym in Spanish) before being executed.

The delivery of this information was carried out in compliance with a ruling from the Constitutional Court, which ordered the Executive of President Daniel Noboa to declassify the minutes of the Public and State Security Council (COSEPE) and deliver them to the relatives of the victims, after the two previous administrations of presidents Lenín Moreno (2017-2021) and Guillermo Lasso (2021-2023) failed to do so.”
