The Argentine Journalism Forum (FOPEA) has been elected to represent Latin America at the International Federation of Expression Exchange (IFEX) Council, the ruling body of the largest free expression network in the world, CERIGUA reports.
FOPEA reports that it will join 11 other organizations on the ruling council: Article 19 (U.K.), the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM – Trinidad and Tobago), the Center for Journalism in Extreme Situations (Russia), the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (Philippines), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ – United States), Independent Journalism Center (Moldova), Media Foundation For West Africa (Ghana), Media Rights Agenda (Nigeria), Pacific Island News Association (Fiji Islands), Pakistan Press Foundation, and the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms.
At the same assembly, IFEX added seven new members to its roster: Fundamedios (Ecuador), the Association for Civilian Rights (ADC – Argentina), the Press and Society Institute (IPYS) - Venezuela branch, Freedom Forum (Nepal), the Cambodian Center for Human Rights, the National Press Association (ANP – Bolivia), and the Human Rights Network for Journalists (Uganda).
