Check out the women journalists working in Latin America who were honored as part of the IWMF #JournoHeroes campaign in 2019

This October, the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas asked the journalism community to share some words about women journalists working in Latin America whom they admire. It was part of the third year of the #JournoHeroes campaign led by the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF).

“Female journalists today face unprecedented hardships for simply speaking truth to power,” the IWMF writes. “Female journalists around the world are targeted online and attacked for doing their jobs simply because of who they are. Together, let’s use this month to stand by them. Show that we will rise above, and recognize their commitments.”

We shared the stories of 17 women journalists from the region on our blog and social media. They were just a fraction of the reporters, photographers, editors and columnists we heard about from readers.

Please see the list below and take today to tell a courageous woman journalist that you admire them.
