After being arrested and threatened for reporting on a pedophile ring, Mexican journalist Lydia Cacho has been named the recipient of the PEN International Writer of Courage Prize, according to the Associated Press (AP). She will be honored at an awards presentation in London on Oct. 20.

Cacho was accused of defamation and received death threats after the 2005 publication of her book "The Demons of Eden: The Power That Protects Child Pornography" about business officials in Cancun involved in child sex abuse, according to the Washington Post.

Earlier this month Cacho also was honored with the 1st Manuel Leguineche International Journalism Prize, from the Spanish Federation of Journalists Associations (FAPE), according to the Latin American Herald Tribune.

She also has been selected as one of International Press Institute's (IPI) World Press Freedom Heroes, and was honored at the IPI's 60th anniversary celebration this month, reported B92.
