Television reporter survives armed attack in Honduras

television reporter from Honduras is recovering from a bullet wound in the leg after surviving an armed attack that left more than twenty bullet holes in his car the night of Friday, Oct. 28, according to Indo Asian News Service and El Tiempo.

Eddie Andino, a reporter for Channel 6, said he realized he was being followed by a vehicle when he was on his way home in the industrial city San Pedro Sula, at which point he decided to speed up, and the assailants began shooting at his car.

“I opened the door and yelled, ‘Don’t shoot, don’t shoot, I’m Eddie Andino from Channel 6!’” Andino told La Prensa, and the attackers ceased fire, which caused him to believe he was not targeted for being a journalist and that the attack was a failed car robbery, according to the Latin American Herald Tribune.
