Abraji records 13 cases of violations against the press in the last two weeks in Brazil

"The Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji, for its acronym in Portuguese) has registered, in the last two weeks, 13 cases of press freedom violations in the country. There are already 330 alerts in 2022, according to the monitoring of attacks on journalists and communicators carried out by the organization in partnership with the international network Voces do Sul.

One of the cases that entered Abraji's monitoring was that of photojournalist João Leoci [...] Last Thursday afternoon (Sept. 1, 2022), during a police operation that ended with the arrest of 14 people, the photographer and the psychiatrist Flávio Falcone were taken to 77 Police Station. [...] The photojournalist, Falcone and the others detained by the police were released after a few hours. The Civil Police said that the group was arrested for disturbing the work and peace of others."
