Argentine government limits journalists' access to Casa Rosada

"The national government has formalized new requirements and limitations for the accreditation of media outlets and journalists at the Casa Rosada. [...] The government's stated objective is to 'establish order, guarantee security and promote a plurality of information.'

[...]

Among the new features are a detailed procedure for requesting access and the requirement of a mandatory sworn statement. In addition, an 'objective evaluation matrix' will be implemented to analyze applicants. This evaluation grid will take into account factors such as the media outlets' 'audience and reach measurement index' over the past three months.

A central aspect of the new regulation is the redefinition of the number of journalists who will be allowed to access press rooms within the Casa Rosada.

[...]

Only up to 25 journalists with annual accreditation will be able to access the 'Dean Roberto Di Sandro' Press Room. An additional 36 professionals will be able to attend from the Conference Room."
