Argentine journalism association concerned about presidential candidate Javier Milei's aggression against press

"The National Academy of Journalism (ANP, by its Spanish acronym) [of Argentina] expressed 'its deep concern' for 'insulting references' of the presidential candidate Javier Milei against journalism, saying his militancy offended press workers using 'proven false accusations.' It should be recalled that in his campaign closing, the economist delivered his speech of gratitude and pointed out 'the roñosos journalists [scabby journalists]' who had mentioned his attachment to his dogs. This is in addition to other episodes of aggression that took place in recent days.

'In most cases, Milei alluded in slanderous terms to journalism, without identifying anyone, which makes his aggressions more unfair. In other cases, Milei's followers chanted, in front of the candidate, slanderous refrains against journalists using names and surnames, and with proven false accusations,' said in a statement the organization led by Joaquín Morales Solá."
