"The National Academy of Journalism (ANP, by its Spanish acronym) [in Argentina] awarded the Pluma de Honor [Pen of Honor] prize to Germán de los Santos, for his investigations on drug trafficking, in a ceremony held at the Augusto Raúl Cortazar Hall of the National Library. It also made a special recognition to Graciela Fernández Meijide, for her activism in defense of human rights.
Today in Rosario, where I live and work, we are all under threat,' said De los Santos this Thursday [June 8] at noon, at the beginning of his speech at the ceremony where he received the Pluma de Honor 2023 award. De los Santos conveyed to his colleagues, who listened to him attentively, the helplessness of an entire society living under permanent threat from drug traffickers.
Everyone is threatened by a power that seems superior in strength and actions to the State. And this has never happened so far in Argentina in the democratic period,' De los Santos, 51, said. He is a correspondent of the newspaper La Nación, works at the radio station Aire de Santa Fe and teaches Investigative Journalism at the Universidad Católica Argentina de Rosario."
