"In a statement, the Association of Journalists of Paraguay (SPP, for its initials in Spanish) took a position on the aggression suffered by a journalist and other colleagues at the hands of local officials during a protest this Monday [June 9] in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay.
On Monday morning, several local officials demonstrated at the city hall, in front of the office of Mayor Óscar Nenecho Rodríguez, to demand payment of their salaries.
Following the meeting between Chief of Staff Nelson Mora and worker representatives, some protesters attacked journalists present, blaming them for the situation."
