Bolivia: Journalists march in Santa Cruz after kidnapping case

"Journalists associations in the easter district of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, protested this Thursday (04.11.2021) demanding justice, 'no impunity' and a speedy investigation into the kidnapping and torture of seven media workers, which they suffered while covering a story.

The march—led by the Journalists Association of Santa Cruz, the Print News Workers Union of that district and some of the affected journalists—started in the the city's cathedral and reached the District Attorney's office demanding justice.

On October 28, seven journalists traveled to the town of Guarayos, Santa Cruz to cover a story about land invasions and land disputes. There, they were caught unawares by hooded and armed men who kidnapped, tortured, and threatened to kill them, according to the victims. The journalists were held by seven hours by the attacking group, who covered their faces and carried rifles."
