"The Association of Journalists of La Paz (APLP, by its Spanish acronym) reported on Nov. 24, based on data collected by the Observatory of Human Rights Defenders UNITAS, that there were 167 violations of press freedom in the country so far this year, which exceeds the 73 recorded in all of 2021.

Among the transgressions suffered by journalists and media are 'obstacles to access information, censorship, threats, attacks, violation of the confidentiality of sources of information, discriminatory allocation of official advertising,' among others mentioned in a statement issued by the APLP.

The attacks on journalists were committed by multiple actors, who on many occasions were encouraged by high government authorities that seek to discredit and stigmatize the media and journalists,' according to the statement."
