“The National Association of Bolivian Journalists and the Circle of Women Journalists of La Paz rejected this Tuesday [Oct. 8] 'the disqualification, disrespect and aggressiveness' of spokespersons and lawyers of former Bolivian President Evo Morales against journalists.
'We reject the disqualification, disrespect and aggressiveness of spokespersons and lawyers of Mr. Evo Morales Ayma against journalists and program hosts who carry out coverage and analysis of the criminal investigation involving the former president,' the association said in a statement.
The journalists' organizations considered 'unacceptable' that the former president, his spokespersons and lawyers use scare tactics and discredit journalists instead of responding with the truth and respecting the right of citizens to be well informed, especially in a delicate case, such as the alleged commission of the crimes of trafficking and aggravated rape involving a minor."
