Bolivian journalists forced to erase images under threat of being thrown into river

"A journalist and a cameraman from news portal Urgente.bo [Bolivia] were forced by vendors in the town of Desaguadero, on the border between Bolivia and Peru, to erase images under threat of being thrown into a river.

The aggression and censorship of journalistic work took place on Friday, May 23, about 73 miles west of La Paz, in the border area where dozens of vendors transport food and fuel to Peruvian territory taking advantage of the exchange rate differences in the currencies of both countries, according to Urgente.bo.

'While doing their reporting, they were intercepted by at least 12 people, mostly men with Peruvian accents, who, upon noticing that they were being recorded and photographed, demanded that the captured images be deleted,' the digital media outlet said."
