"[An obscene message was] sent to journalist Vanessa Lippelt, editor of Congresso em Foco, on the night of Sun., June 5. The text, with a photo of a gun that, according to the author, would be used in the journalist's murder, was sent to the e-mail of the site's editorial staff. The message was delivered on Mon., Jan. 6, by Vanessa to the Specialized Police Department of the Federal District Civil Police.
The editor is the second member of the Congresso em Foco team to receive a death threat after the publication of a report on the tactics of 1500chan, an anonymous forum, to produce fake news in favor of President Jair Bolsonaro. The author of the story, Lucas Neiva, was the first to be threatened, on Sat., June 4, after the story was published. The two journalists also had their personal data leaked on the platform.

Entities representing journalism and parliamentarians repudiated the threats to the journalists of Congresso em Foco. The Brazilian Press Association (ABI, by its Portuguese acronym) will ask the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to investigate the denunciations made by the report. The Senate Commission on Human Rights and Minorities also announced it will investigate the case."
