Brazil: Justice censors report on research with substance used in the treatment of COVID-19

"The National Association of Newspapers (ANJ) and the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji) released, this Thursday [Oct. 21], a statement of repudiation against the decision of Judge Manuel Amaro de Lima, of the 3rd Civil and Work Accidents Court of Amazonas, who increased censorship against articles in the newspaper O Globo about studies under suspicion with proxalutamide for the treatment of COVID-19 in a private health network.

The Amazonas Court had already ordered O Globo to delete three texts on the subject published on the newspaper's website. The new decision also banned the publication of any other article that mentions the name or shows photos related to the private health network that hosted and sponsored a clinical trial with a substance called proxalutamide for the treatment of COVID-19. The drug has never been used on a commercial scale and has yet to be proven effective against any disease."
