"From Oct. 30, 2022 to Jan. 1, 2023, there were 70 cases of physical aggressions, offenses, obstruction of work, digital harassment, among other types of attacks on journalists that were recorded. The monitoring was carried out by the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji, by its Portuguese acronym) in partnership with the National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj). Most of the attacks came from pro-Bolsonaro groups that, even after the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, have not yet been completely demobilized from the area around army barracks.

Of the 70 aggressions, 65 incidents took place while covering encampments and roadblocks, considered anti-democratic, illegal and coup-like by the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil. However, the most serious attacks are related to the camps, but did not happen in these places. They were recorded in Rondônia, where a radio station was set on fire and the editorial office of a news portal was attacked by a gunman. Political violence has affected both traditional and independent media, as well as all types of news outlets: newspapers, websites, television, and radio."
