"In the ruling ordering the arrest of Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro, Supreme Federal Court Justice André Mendonça said there is evidence the banker ordered a robbery to be carried out — or the simulation of a similar scenario — to 'violently assault' GLOBO columnist Lauro Jardim. According to Mendonça, the goal was, through that episode, to 'silence the voice of the press that dared to express opinions contrary to his private interests.'
Messages found by the Federal Police on Vorcaro’s cellphone show that the banker participated in a WhatsApp group called 'La Banda,' where members discussed a strategy to stage a robbery and attack Lauro Jardim.
In messages cited in André Mendonça’s ruling, the banker allegedly authorized the action against the journalist."
