"The National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj, for its Portuguese acronym) and the Union of Professional Journalists of the Federal District (SJPDF) vehemently condemn the episode of violence against press professionals in the Chamber of Deputies, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (Dec. 9), and the shutdown of the TV Câmara signal, which was broadcasting live the events in the House Plenary. Several reports indicate that professionals were assaulted by legislative police officers.
Following instructions from the President of the Chamber, Deputy Hugo Motta, journalists, photojournalists, videographers and press officers were removed from the Chamber's plenary hall by the Legislative Police and prevented from carrying out their work. The broadcast on TV Câmara (the Chamber's television channel) was also interrupted, hindering the work of public television professionals who are supposed to report on events in the House."
