"Abraji vehemently repudiates death threats against journalist Paula Litaiff, CEO of Revista e Agência Cenarium, from Manaus, [Brazil,] and her family due to articles published on the news portal. In a complaint to the police on Wednesday afternoon , Nov. 13, Litaiff presented prints of threats made in a WhatsApp group of Amazonian journalists who also mention the journalist's young daughters as targets.

The authorship of the threats is attributed to Cileide Moussallem, owner of Site CM7, whose husband's company was the subject of an article by Cenarium. On her social networks, Moussallem denied having threatened Paula Litaiff and claimed to be in São Paulo accompanying her husband in spinal surgery. However, on Wednesday, the website Imediato, from Manaus, released an audio recording affirming that it was Moussallem threatening Litaiff's life.

Abraji has already appealed to the Amazonas Public Security Secretariat and the public prosecutor's office to  investigate the complaint rigorously and quickly. As this is an episode of violence relating to the publication of an article, the threats also become an attack on freedom of the press, and end up affecting the entire journalistic community."
