"Late Friday afternoon (July 9), President Jair Bolsonaro's lawyer, Frederick Wassef, sent a message to this columnist's Whatsapp attacking her personally and telling her, among other things, to move to China. 'Do what you do here at work, to see what the wonderful political system you love so much would do to you. Back in China you would disappear and they wouldn't even find your body.'
The message was sent today on the day that the fourth and final episode of the podcast UOL Investiga - The Secret Life of Jair, presented by this columnist, debuted and revealed direct connections of President Jair Bolsonaro with a scheme for the payment of salaries of his former employees in the Chamber of Deputies."
LJR Note: The National Federation of Journalists (FENAJ), the Union of Professional Journalists of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro and the National Women's Commission of FENAJ issued a statement in which they repudiate the threat at a time when "the journalist has been performing important investigative work and exposing possible crimes committed by Jair Bolsonaro."
