Brazilian Public Ministry asks radio station to lose concession and pay millions in fine for 'disinformation'

"On the grounds that [the radio station] Jovem Pan aligned itself with the disinformation campaign that has been spreading throughout the country since 2022, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office [MPF, by its Portuguese acronym] filed a public civil action requesting the cancellation of three broadcasting licenses granted to the station. According to the agency, the contents broadcast by the radio station attacked the democratic regime.

For the MPF, the conduct practiced by Jovem Pan directly violated the Constitution and the legislation dealing with public service radio and TV broadcasting.

In addition to the cancellation of the radio licenses, the MPF requests that Jovem Pan be ordered to pay R$ 13.4 million [about US $2.5 million] in compensation for collective moral damages. The amount corresponds to 10% of the radio station's assets shown in its most recent balance sheet."
