By decree, president of Argentina restricts access to public information concerning his government

“Through a decree, the president [of Argentina] Javier Milei restricted access to public information about the Government's actions, as well as the private activity and part of the public activity of its officials. At the same time, the Executive Branch will have the discretion to self-define and self-determine which data will be considered to be of public interest.

The new criteria that limit citizens from accessing (individually or collectively, independently or through the press) the national administration's data on public affairs are included in Decree 780/2024 published today in the Official Gazette.
