The Consortium to Support Independent Journalism in the Region (CAPIR, for its acronym in Spanish) launched a call for journalists and media outlets in exile in Latin America. The initiative aims to finance innovative projects that offer creative and effective solutions to the challenges faced by media outlets and journalists who have had to leave their countries.
Among the types of projects that CAPIR hopes to support are: ideas to help media remain operational and adapt to new environments, development of support materials such as guides or videos, and the organization of events for training and dialogue between journalists . Each project can receive between US$1,000 and US$3,000 for national investigations and up to $4,000 for cross-border investigations, with the possibility of up to six months of mentoring from experienced journalists in the region.
Proposals can be sent until Nov. 13, 2024. For more information or questions about the call, interested parties can contact gustavo@iwpr.net.
