“Journalist Cristian Cabrales, of the [Colombian] digital media outlet Plato y la Región Noticias, denounced an attack against him. In the early hours of Aug. 25, on the road from Plato to Tenerife, in [the department of] Magdalena, an unknown individual on a motorcycle shot at the journalist several times.
Cabrales was returning from a social event in Plato, Magdalena, and was on his way to Tenerife, the municipality where he lives. In the midst of the shooting, he managed to escape and later informed the police, who took preventive measures and are reportedly taking preliminary actions to obtain information about what happened.
Cabrales said this attack is related to threats he has received, as he had already been warned of an attempt against him due to his coverage on corruption and local administration in the department.”
