In an editorial published this Sunday, May 5, Colombian magazine Cambio announced a case of extortion and cyber attacks against it, allegedly by “an international network that defrauds cancer patients” and whose objective is to “erase a journalistic investigation that exposes them.”
As reported, the story began on July 17, 2023 when an investigation was published that exposed a network that sells an alleged “miracle cure” against cancer. After the article, the company requested a rectification, which the media outlet did not do.
In April of this year, cyber attacks began that have taken the magazine offline for hours, and, in recent days, it has received direct threats. These threats say that if they do not delete the investigation, the page “will go offline and then be deleted.”
