"Dozens of communicators from Chiapas marched yesterday [June 7] in Tuxtla Gutiérrez to demand justice for the murders and aggressions against journalists, and that the practice of their informative work be guaranteed.
The demonstrators walked through the streets of the state capital and concluded with a rally in front of the government palace, seat of the state executive, where they placed placards with their demands. Reporter Karla García read a statement in which they expressed their demand that there should be no more deaths of journalists for doing their work.
They asked the authorities to improve the protection mechanism for human rights defenders and journalists, and pointed out that last year was considered 'the most lethal year for journalism in the world, and Mexico was in second place with 15 murders.'"
