"The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) expressed concern over two legislative actions being promoted by the provincial governments of Salta and La Rioja, in Argentina. In one case, it would punish the dissemination of false news and, in the other, it would promote a constitutional reform that could affect freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
In Salta, a bill with half approval in the Chamber of Deputies punishes with arrest and/or fines 'whoever disseminates false news' in the digital spectrum. [...]
In La Rioja, at the beginning of the discussion on a constitutional reform of that province, Governor Ricardo Quintela said the amendment would include regulation of the independent press. In his opinion, the reforming Convention - with a large pro-government majority - should discuss 'freedom of expression and governance.'"
